Amazing illustrations from Asia are getting together.
Maybe the best asian illustrators portal I've ever seen. Highly recommended!
Lots of good shit.
A tremedously rich source of articles and links to artists either working in Asia or of Asian descent living elsewhere.
If you like the mix on Lines and Colors, and Drawn!, I think you'll appreciate the nice stwe of styles , genre and approaches in contemporary Asian art that the blogs' creators, Josef Lee and Sam Lay. are constantly cooking up.
Kinda like Drawn! but focusing on one continent where alot of exciting things are happening.
A great site for keeping up with new artists in Asia. I have been blown away by the quality and diversity of style of the artists they feature.
Lovely stuff
This is seriously the place to visit if you have any remotest interest in art and illustration.
an Asian drawing portal that seriously rocks
Jing Quek

Jing Quek

Jing Quek, a Singaporean photographer who graduated with a BA in Fine Arts (Photography) from the SVA, School of Visual Arts, New York, takes truly amazing group photos. Every single person in his photos have a specific purpose and all his shots are incredibly composed and choreographed.

With shiny-eyed optimism and close interaction with everyday people, Jing combines his eye for subtle gestures and expressions with a tropical color palette and the classical formality of the tableau, instilling the colourful character of his subjects in his images. Utilizing a healthy dose of kitsch and humor to disarm viewers' expectations, Jing explores the social instinct of people to form communities and identities, exploring cultural quirks and cultural stereotypes along the way. Jing's appreciation of cultural references and authentic environments, coupled with strong conceptual direction, help to create contemporary mythologies, fictions and urban social narratives.

The Adventures of Yutaro
Writing by Sam Lay on 06 May 2008 1:04 AM
The Adventures of Yutaro

A fishy treat from The Museum of Modern Fiction!

Masterfully drawn with a story so well written, "The Adventures of Yutaro" is indeed a modern day visual poetry.

Drawn and scripted by Singaporean designer Josef Lee, the story talks about how a romantic rendezvous off coast led to the birth of Yutaro, a half fish part human mutant, and his tormented journey in search of his maternal parents. A tragic twist of fate blended with a unique touch of wicked humor brings about a perfect ironical ending for the story.

Subtle as always, yet leaving a strong aftertaste, such is the feeling one can experience after reading "The Adventures of Yutaro".

ANTZ
Writing by Jay Lim on 26 Mar 2008 12:00 AM
ANTZ
Deriving illustrations from ideas generated from his everyday interaction with nature and society, he is a well rounder who works well independantly and in a team when it comes to his passion. Dearly known as ANTZ, the Singaporean artist has been drawing and illustrating for leisure and work and he never resigned even when the hardest hit him.

Collating both cultures and urban influences, corresponding to what he has seen and learnt, ANTZ has been successfully involved in renowned projects and local events such as NIKE, TAGGERBAGS, Tiger Beer Translate, Ministry of Sound (Singapore), MTV Asia and many more.
Bubbly, positive and 'crazy' some might say, he is stepping forward to seek new challenges and opportunies to work in matrimony with those in the same capacity. The bond he has with his work is noteworthy and tremendously admired. Three things that would best describe his passion and art work; 'original, invigorating and uniquely refreshed'. Looking ahead to the ever unknown road, ANTZ is all geared up to intensify the industry with his up and coming contemporary designs.

My Paper Cuts

Founded by Sabrina Lee from Singapore, MY PAPER CUTS lets you make greeting cards for fictional and insignificant occasions, and for one or two better-known ones. Most of their spin offs require a certain degree of self-involvement, and you will need paper, a printer and a trickle of imagination.

Sabrina is always looking for illustrators, graphic designers and copy writers to come up with off-the-wall anecdotes. So, if you possess magical fingers or a sharp tongue, you can send your artwork to stare@mypapercuts.net.

All the cards are free for download and use.
